On September 06 2018 at 03:08 AM a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 struck the island of Hokkaido. We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life, and the effect of the aftermath that has struck our beloved home of Hokkaido. Here at the Hokkaido Club Hawaii (Hokkaido Jinkai) we send our sympathy to those who lost loved ones in this catastrophe.

The state of Hawaii, and the prefecture of Hokkaido became sister states in 2017. In this spirit of friendship, we ask the community of Hawaii to please help out our sister prefecture of Hokkaido in its time of crisis. It will take many months, and years to rebuild the disaster struck areas to their former state. Hospitals, businesses, and schools have been effected since the earthquake and need to be rebuilt, and re-opened. Countless families have lost their homes, and are in shelter areas full of despair and hopelessness.
